You are taking part in a scientific experiment on recognizing texts written by artificial intelligence. Your anonymized answers will be recorded for research purposes. You may withdraw at any time by closing the experiment before finishing. In that case, your answers will be deleted. The experiment should take approximately 25 minutes. First, you will fill out a short demographic questionnaire and then you will receive precise instructions.
Please complete the experiment on a computer, not on a mobile phone.
In case of questions or issues while completing the experiment, contact Jiří Milička ([email protected]).
Please read the Informed Consent to participate in the study and confirm by clicking the box below that you have read and agree with it.
In the following section, we would like to ask you to answer questions about your demographic information and your attitudes toward artificial intelligence.
Gender:
Age:
Native language(s):
Do you have any reading or text comprehension disorders (e.g., dyslexia)?
Are you currently studying?
How often do you work with large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)?
To what extent do you agree with the following statements?
Artificial intelligence can improve the quality of our everyday life.
Artificial intelligence poses a risk to human safety.
Automatically generated texts can be as high quality as texts written by humans.
Automatically generated texts lack human creativity and a personal style.
Artificial intelligence is not capable of true understanding in the way humans are.
Artificial intelligence produces grammatically correct texts.
I prefer to avoid using AI when writing texts that matter to me.
I worry that people are becoming less intelligent due to AI use.
I'm fascinated by what AI can do when writing texts.
You will see two text excerpts. One is written by a human, the other is generated by artificial intelligence.
Text 1
Text 2
After you read the texts, first answer the subjective question about which text is easier for you to read. There is no correct answer here—it’s your personal preference. Please choose one option, even if it feels hard to decide.
Which text is easier for you to read?
In the second question, say which text you think was written by a human. There is a correct answer.
Which text was written by a human?
In the last question, indicate how sure you are about which text was written by a human.
Which text is easier for you to read?
What were the texts you just read about?
All tasks are finished. Please tell us here about your strategies while answering (what you focused on), or anything else related to this experiment. Then you can click the button to see the correct answers and your overall result.
If you need credit for participating in LABELS, please provide the email address (the same as in the registration system). Please also take a screenshot of this screen in case your email address is not submitted correctly. If you are not doing this within any course, just type X (or any message to the experiment authors :-). The email will not (and technically cannot) be linked to your answers.
